The person who issues the Arbitration Award – final ruling– is an arbitrator. The arbitrators from the Society of Arbitrators of AEADE are all prestigious professionals: retired or on-leave magistrates, university chairs, doctors, lawyers, etc., although the current law allows for any person of legal age in full possession of their civil rights to be an arbitrator in equity.

The arbitrators are selected by the Arbitration Board of the Association and their decision (Award) with regard to the controversy arisen has the same executive force as a Court Sentence.

In some sectors, such as the urban leasing sector, the type of arbitration applied is at law. In this case, in accordance with the law, the arbitrator is a practising lawyer.

The arbitrator must be near the parties. Thus, each Regional Office has its own arbitrators.
